HCist - International Conference on Health and Social Care Information Systems and Technologies



HCist intends to gather Healthcare Information Systems and Technologies professionals and academics to share and discuss current challenges, developments, case studies, integrated and practical solutions, as well as new products, findings and approaches to leverage the use of Information Systems and Technologies in healthcare.

The conference is targeted for academics (teachers, researchers and students, mainly from post-graduates), healthcare IT professionals and managers, general medical and nursing staff, CMIOs and CIOs of healthcare organizations.

Overall objectives of the conference

  • Discuss the importance of Health and Social Care Information Systems (HCIS) and the emerging technological developments (standards, ontologies, architectures, killer applications, integration solutions, etc.);
  • Introduce state-of-the-art solutions and supported features;
  • Present and discuss practical solutions;
  • Assess in-housing development, commercial off-the-shelf and open source solutions of HCIS: opportunities, trends, risks, advantages and disadvantages;
  • Debate integrated solutions and technologies used in ICT for the Healthcare sector;
  • Address challenges associated with the social-technical perspective of an HCIS;
  • Present motivations, problems and critical success factors on the adoption of HCIS;
  • Evaluate management HCIS issues and challenges;
  • Discuss future trends of HCIS.

    Authors of selected papers will be invited to extend their papers for publication in international journals and in edited books.
